Israeli Army Demolishes Catholic Monastery and Nuns’ School in Southern Lebanon Today, the Israeli army demolished a monastery and a school run by the Sisters of the Holy Savior in the southern Lebanese town of Yaroun. Lebanon’s national news agency said the school was one of the most prominent educational institutions in the Bint Jbeil district and had educated thousands of students from surrounding towns. Israel has continued attacks in Lebanon despite a "ceasefire" extended through May 17.

A veteran of World War II who flew combat missions aboard bombers before entering the priesthood, Gracida later served as Bishop of Pensacola-Tallahassee and then as Bishop of Corpus Christi, Texas, from 1983 to 1997.
