Lombardy's Bishops on Their Phones: All ten bishops of Lombardy gathered from July 5–10 at the Hermitage of Montecastello in Tignale del Garda for their annual Spiritual Exercises, led by Bishop Massimiliano Palinuro, Apostolic Administrator of Istanbul. They met "for prayer, reflection, and fraternity." The photo showing the bishops all looking down at their phones could be reading the Breviary.

Post is from 2018. Eastern events of recent years. "In 2013", said the Russian Patriarch, "the heads of local Orthodox Churches came to Moscow to celebrate the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus, and when they met Vladimir Putin, one of the strongest messages was the request that Russia should accept to take part in the protection of Christians in the Middle East. I am pleased", Kirill added, "that this happened, and thanks to Russia's intervention, the genocide of Christians was stopped". The Head of the Russian Church confirmed the intention of the Patriarchate of Moscow to contribute to the humanitarian aid of Middle Eastern populations, and also to the reconstruction of "places of worship, monasteries, monuments, including Muslim monuments and historical monuments". I posted once on how Russia brought aid to a Catholic nursing home where Sisters took care of disabled and elderly. How both Catholics and Muslims ran to the Russian bases to escape the genocide in both Christian …بیشتر
The Roman Rite Returns to Another Monastery: Today, twelve Benedictine monks from Le Barroux officially established a new monastic community at Notre-Dame de Bellefontaine Abbey in western France. Founded in the early 12th century, the abbey was home to Trappist monks from 1816 until their departure in 2025. Fr. Raphaël, the new prior, paid tribute to the departing community: "The monastery is in very good condition. The brothers cared for it until the very end, always hoping they could remain." And: "Our liturgy will be celebrated in Latin and Gregorian chant. There will be those who like it and those who do not. Each person must discern for himself."
Many bishops in the USA (and elsewhere) forbid Catholics from attending Mass in chapels belonging to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, yet they welcome schismatics and homosexuals. Three examples: Arlington Bishop: FSSPX Sacraments Are "Invalid" Bishop Michael Burbidge of Arlington, Virginia, instructed Catholics to “avoid participating in the activities of the FSSPX.” In a letter dated 8 July, he wrote that "any celebrations of the sacraments of confession and matrimony by the FSSPX are invalid, and the administration of other sacraments is illicit". In September 2025, Bishop Burbidge said that his meeting with the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew was “incredible,” and marked a “historic moment of Christian unity”. Covington Bishop: FSSPX Mass Is "Abuse of Eucharist" Bishop John Iffert of Covington, Kentucky, said in a recent statement that the sacraments from the FSSPX are “illicit”: “The Masses these priests celebrate are an abuse of the Eucharist, insofar as they make the …بیشتر
Doesn't Rome recognize the confessions and marriages of the schismatic Orthodox as valid? So if the SSPX is in schism, it should be given the same favor.
Homosexual Couple Sues Surrogate for Refusing to Abort Their Son: A Canadian homosexual male couple is suing the surrogate mother who carried "their" son after she refused their 2024 request to abort him at 22 weeks because of a cleft lip. Filed in Ontario Superior Court in May 2026, the lawsuit seeks about $600,000, alleging the surrogate withheld medical information, breached confidentiality, and caused emotional distress. She denies the allegations, saying the dispute began after she refused the abortion request and adding, "I just feel used... They didn't get the perfect child they wanted, and they threw me away."
Gay Canadian Couple Sues Surrogate Mother For Refusing To Abort Baby, Causing ‘Emotional Distress’
The mother denies allegations that she did not inform the plaintiffs about the health of the baby, who had a minor birth defect that they claimed put the child at risk while causing them emotional distress.
Over 1,500 Polish settlements in Volhynia were completely destroyed. Between 1943 and 1946, Ukrainian nationalists murdered up to approximately 100,000 Poles in Volhynia, Eastern Lesser Poland, and the Lublin region. They perished in nearly 4,000 localities. To this day, the majority of the victims have not received exhumation, individual commemoration, or a Christian burial. Their remains still lie in unmarked graves, killing pits, forests, fields, and the sites of villages that no longer exist. Historian Dr. Leon Popek described the tragedy of the Polish inhabitants of Volhynia and Eastern Lesser Poland—as well as the dramatic struggle to preserve the memory of the victims—in an article titled "Memory of Volhynia and Eastern Lesser Poland," published in *Biuletyn IPN* (IPN Bulletin) No. 4/2017. The researcher not only highlighted the scale of the genocide perpetrated by the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army but also outlined the fate of the locations …بیشتر
A Secret Beneath Lautaro Martínez's Socks: Argentine striker Lautaro Martínez wears an image of Our Lady of Luján, Argentina's patron saint, inside his shin guards. The devotion was revealed after Argentina's dramatic 3–2 win over Egypt at the World Cup, when TV cameras caught the image during a post-match interview. FIFA prohibit religious messages on players' kit.

Rev. Alfons Gea, a Catalan priest and cousin of Cardinal Cristóbal López Romero, has appeared to confirm the sexual nature of allegations against the 74-year-old Archbishop of Rabat, Morocco. Cardinal López, a Spanish-born Salesian, is a prominent supporter of Pope Francis’s agenda, was appointed Archbishop of Rabat in 2017 and a cardinal in 2019. On Monday, he announced that he would temporarily withdraw from public celebrations and pastoral ministry while the Vatican conducts a preliminary investigation into allegations involving at least five adult women. He has admitted to “inappropriate behaviour” but denies committing sexual assault, violence, or harassment. ElPaís.com has described the allegations as sexual abuse, rather than merely inappropriate hugs or gestures. Writing for Exaudi.org, Rev. Gea said his cousin had already begun privately accepting the possible consequences: “The image of a papabile, a figure who enjoyed such widespread affection, has come crashing down." And: …بیشتر
If being a Catholic is the Way one lives one's life rather than merely an adjective then the title for this article makes no rational sense. Otherwise, we fall into the trap of believing all the other people who " identify" with logical absurdities.
First Canadian Town Grants Trees a 'Right to Life': On 9 June, the town of Terrasse-Vaudreuil in Quebec, home to around 2,000 people, became the first place in Canada to adopt a resolution enshrining the 'rights' of trees. The resolution includes rights such as the right to life, natural growth, integrity and regeneration. Mayor Michel Bourdeau said the initiative was inspired by filmmaker André Desrochers and his film 'Des arbres et des arts'. Meanwhile, around 30,000 human beings are aborted in Quebec each year, and more than 100,000 in Canada as a whole. Since its legalisation in 2016, more than 100,000 Canadians have died through euthanasia (MAID).
Pope Leo XIV just appointed a German bishop who supported same-sex blessings, gender ideology, and LGBT initiatives. The same Vatican that celebrated that appointment has now imposed canonical sanctions on the Society of Saint Pius X, sanctions that require a more demanding process for lifting than the procedure for Catholics who have procured an abortion. The comparison is stark. The priorities are exposed. The inconsistencies that have left traditional Catholics reeling are now being seen. John-Henry Westen also investigates a widely circulated letter attributed to Bishop Fulton Sheen criticizing the SSPX. While the letter may be genuine, the host argues it likely does not reflect Sheen's own thinking, citing historical inaccuracies, Sheen's declining health, and the possibility that staff drafted much of his correspondence. The Vatican's treatment of the SSPX is not about discipline. It is about eliminating the Traditional Latin Mass and the communities that preserve it. The episcopal …بیشتر
Another piece of the puzzle is that +Sheen - like MANY priests at the time (even my saintly confessor) - saw Vatican II as "of the Holy Spirit" and submitted to it in obedience. They explained the fallout after the 2nd Vatican Council as a "high jacking" of the "reform" by radical progressives. Hindsight has revealed that the impetus of the council itself was flawed: that the Church needed to change to speak to "the modern world."
This is not meant to be uncharitable, but Fulton Sheen should not be a yardstick to measure orthodoxy. Whatever zeal he had initially, he was full bore a lover of VCII, Paul VI and the new mass. I am sure with that pedigree he was not a friend of Abp. Lefebvre or the Society
Bishop Joseph Williams of Camden, New Jersey, has suppressed the Mass in the Roman rite at St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish in Northfield. The final Roman Mass was celebrated on June 28. The excuse used to end the Mass was the retirement of Father Anthony J. Manuppella. The priest who has taken over as an administrator knows how to say the Roman rite, but lacks permission to celebrate. Instead, he offers a Sunday noon Novus Ordo in Latin, celebrated ad orientem. According to parishioners and blog posts, Bishop Williams did not renew the permission required for the Mass to continue. Below is an English user comment from a parishioner published on Wdtprs.com: "The Bishop has rejected all pleas for mercy and charity from our retiring pastor, our dedicated altar servers, and congregation to allow our Traditional Latin Mass to continue".
