When a Pope is elected—once he has been chosen, has accepted, and has taken a name—while white smoke rises from the Sistine Chapel to signal his election to all, before the announcement of “Habemus Papam,” the cardinals of the conclave come to pledge allegiance to the new Pontiff; this lasts about twenty minutes.
On October 26, this ceremony did not take place since there was no “Habemus Papam.” Instead, as I have explained at length, the conspiracy talks aimed at bringing down the elected candidate were taking place—which, alas, succeeded.
However, on October 28, something curious occurred: it took an hour instead of 20 minutes to complete this tribute, a sign that it did not go smoothly and that there was certainly resistance, which explains why the usurper decided—an unprecedented move—to extend the conclave2 by one day, even though it had already concluded!!!
