Bishop Fredrik Hansen of Oslo, Norway, issued a July 3 statement following the episcopal consecrations by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX). He said the two consecrating bishops and the four newly consecrated bishops had removed themselves from ecclesial communion and unity with the Pope: “This is sad, painful, and calls us to prayer and penance.” He urged Catholics to pray the Rosary for the unity of the Church on the Feast of Saint Sunniva, July 8.
